Each year, more than one out of four adults over the age of 65 falls each year.
Falls can cause moderate to severe injuries, such as hip fractures and head traumas, and can increase the risk of early death.
Falling once doubles your chances of falling again.

Our group of Occupational Therapists are great detectives!
We look at all the factors that might contribute to falls, teach clients new strategies for doing daily living activities, and recommend equipment or approaches that keep older adults ACTIVE while reducing the risk of falls.
Unfortunately, without appropriate intervention, older adults who are at risk of falling often begin isolating themselves, avoiding situations where they know there is a risk of falling. This behavior can feed into a negative, self-fulfilling prophecy. The less they do, the weaker they become, the greater the risk of falls, and the more they isolate themselves.
It is a bad Catch-22 situation.
